At an off-grid mine in Africa, an analysis run for a different purpose surfaced a quieter problem: plant settings were curtailing the site's solar, leaving contracted renewable energy undelivered — a potential six-figure liability neither side had seen. The finding became the case for expanding the solar plant and adding battery storage: less fuel, higher renewable penetration, a better cost of electricity.

At a remote mine's hybrid power plant, an unsolicited performance review found close to half a million dollars a year of contracted renewable energy going undelivered — invisible to both the operator and the off-taker. The finding triggered a plant-wide optimisation and a material expansion of the site's solar capacity.
